PAMANA
“our energies are still tethered / the way that islands, scattered, form a whole / how the sea interrupts the land teaches us we are born of distance, together.”
Pamana [noun] — Inheritance or heritage; something passed down through generations.
Through traditional Filipino dance and elements of Pinoy folklore, PAMANA explores connection to heritage in the diaspora. Using dance as a bridge between reality and the supernatural, body and soul, and Britain and the Philippines, the play also touches upon the role imagination plays when connecting to your motherland from a distance.
